海角社区 | November 11, 2025

鈥淓ducation shouldn鈥檛 just prepare students for today鈥檚 jobs. It should prepare them for the unknown. In the age of AI, adaptability and curiosity matter more than ever.鈥

These words from Adam Hanka, Director of Big Data & AI at Creative Dock, kicked off dynamic discussion at 海角社区鈥檚 inaugural Tech-Edu Forum, November 5 in Prague. Designed to address the gap between college computer science education and IT employer expectations, the event gathered leaders from both worlds, along with 海角社区 Tech Career Accelerator students.

Human skills matter and other lessons

An informative roundtable moderated by Ricardo Monagas from Uppersky churned out many insights, including:

  • It’s not all about technical fluency. Creativity, empathy, adaptability, and communication help technology serve humans.
  • Choose a solid foundation over early specialization. Critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration fuel our ability to adapt as tools and technologies evolve.
  • Study abroad is a powerful catalyst for building essential skills like flexibility and self-awareness, required in the workplace.
  • Learning shouldn鈥檛 stop with graduation. Be ready to 鈥渓earn, unlearn, and relearn鈥 throughout your career.

Sincere thanks to our roundtable panelists Peter Schlegel, Stronghold Systems O脺; Jind艡ich Slune膷ko, 42 Prague; and 海角社区 tech faculty lead Ondrej Kuzelka. Additional thanks to our remote participants鈥攊ncluding Marina Baranova from IBM and Ivana Knudson from University of New York鈥攁nd everyone else who helped make this event possible.

Benefits for 海角社区 students

鈥淚t was great to meet both educators and industry professionals in one place,鈥 said Brian H., an 海角社区 Tech Career Accelerator student from University of Michigan. 鈥淐onversations like these help us understand what skills really matter and how we can prepare for the world after graduation.鈥

鈥淎s a student, it鈥檚 easy to feel unsure about the future,鈥 said Anika S. from University of Minnesota. 鈥淭his event gave me a sense of direction鈥擨 left inspired and more confident about my path.鈥
